There were four lands...
They were peaceful, prosperous in their own ways, until disaster struck. The King and Queen of Mystere were assassinated, killed in their own bed on a warm summer night. However, the assassins were messy, they left tracks leading back to Taira, where they had supposedly been sent from. So, assassins of their own were dispatched - who were, in fact, the same assassins who took the lives of the King and Queen of Mystere - to kill the rulers of Taira. They didn't cover their tracks either, and war ensued to get revenge for the crime. After all, what land would allow another to just kill their reagents and get away with it? Unknowing by everyone, excluding those who committed the crime and the Princess of Mystere, this was a trap to create a war. The Princess wishes to gain the lands of both Mystere and Taira, and be the sole ruler of both.
The war began, just as the princess wanted, each side taking heavy losses, but Taira seemed to be taking more damage than Mystere. They had the undead on their side, much harder to kill than dragons and unicorns. When it seemed that they would lose, Taira called in their ally from the icy lands of Ayla. The King and Queen had made a pact with the previous reagents, and the princess prayed that they would answer the call to avenge their deaths.
Luckily, Ayla felt no animosity toward Taira, but disliked the undead of Mystere with a passion. They came to the aid of their ally, helping turn the tide of the war more in Taira's favor. The undead, still, were persistent, still hard to kill, so even with Ayla's help, they could barely surpass them. Mystere, not wanting to lose to the supposed kingslayers, have just recently appealed to Zarata, hoping to gain an ally to finally push the tide of war into their favor, and finally end it.
