Markus had slipped away when Ash was still asleep, and he didn't feel guilty about it. Okay, maybe a tiny part of him did, but it was the part that was usually dormant unless he'd used alcohol, and he wasn't about to bring it back out. The last thing he wanted was to develop a crush on someone he couldn't be seen with, especially someone who held his academic career in his hands. The other option, to pursue this, date him, end up destroying what was there, well it really wasn't a great way to handle things if he wanted to pass his exams, and he did. He didn't have faith that he could, but Ashton seemed to, and despite his feelings on the subject, he needed the younger male.
So, no falling for anyone. He'd do his homework, keep his head down, maybe get laid at some point, but he wouldn't lead him on. And, most importantly, HE WOULDN'T GET DRUNK. It led to snuggles and snuggles led to fuzzy feelings and they led to clingy people that wouldn't leave him the fuck alone. He really ought to have learnt THAT lesson by now.
But as with most things that should be learned, Markus was a tad slow and prone to many mistakes. He figured it wasn't too late yet, that Ash was still only interested in bedding him. So he wasn't worrying too much as he headed into the empty classrooms to meet him for yet another study session.

Ash barely even looked at the older boy, let alone speak to him as he entered the room for their second study session. Did Markus think him a fool or something? Ash knew that Markus had slept with other guys after that night in the Room of Requirement. Of course with a rumor mill like Hogwarts' how could one not know what was going on?
A part of Ash knew he was being ridiculous. After all, this is what he had wanted wasn't it? Just a good lay from a hot boy. There was another part however, the jealous part that wanted to rip all those other boys' heads off. Of course that would most likely land him in Azkaban.
So, the Ravenclaw figured it was best to just lay low and act like nothing was wrong. Yeah, sure. Like he could keep up that charade. If it wasn't already obvious to Markus that something was irritatting the Ravenclaw, it would be soon.
Especially judging by Ash's manner. Not a word did he say to the older boy, he merely walked over sat his books down on the table and sat across from Markus. The Ravenclaw leaned back in his chair, arms folded across his chest. More than likely there was also a small glare on his face. If Markus asked however, Ash would just say it had been a bad day. There was no point in getting all worked up this early in the sesssion. Ash would wait until later to bring it up. That is, if he brought it up.

"Hello to you too sunshine" Markus couldn't help the sarcastic comment that slipped from his mouth as he watched Ashton. The boy was obviously in a bad mood, but he'd be damned if he let that come between them. He knew tutors like that, people who were too immersed in their own feelings to care much about what was happening in the session, and he knew that if things went like this, he'd end up frustrated enough to walk out. And probably wouldn't come back either. So it was best to start the evening off with a joke, and hopefully the others mood would lighten a little.
He wasn't sure what they'd be working on tonight and had brought most of his books over. They were scattered all over the table, the boy not wanting to give off the impression that he wasn't going to do any work. After all, they were supposedly working for his benefit. And the last thing he wanted was to fail his classes and have his father kick him out, because contrary to what most people thought, he actually valued his fathers opinion highly.
Ashton looked like he could use a good fuck and for a moment or two he contemplated saying it, but held it back, not wanting to bring the others memories back to the night they'd shared.

Ash couldn't stop the small laugh that escaped at Markus' 'Sunshine' comment. He had to admit, it was a little funny. But not funny enough for him to be all buddy-buddy with Markus. "Yeah, I'm not in the best of moods right now." he admitted. Figured it was better to just tell the older boy straight up that he was a little irritated today.
Ash leaned forward as Markus placed his books on the table. His elbows were on the table, chin supported by his hands. "Ok, so what do you have to work on today?"
To be honest, Ash really did not want to be here today. He was already irritated with the brunette and knew that with the Gryffindor's arrogant attitude, he was bound to get even more irritated before the hour was up.
Of course he couldn't let his personal feelings interfere with the studying. Not only was that an immature and irresponsible thing to to do, but he had also promised Markus that he would help him pass his NEWTS. And Ashton Laurent did not break promises. Even if he had issues with the person whom he had promised something. So, Ash would just help Markus and be done with it.

Markus grinned at him, happy to have gotten a response at least. "I'm sure I can fix that...once we get that pesky homework out of the way" There was nothing wrong with flirting with him, especially after both boys had admitted to wanting each other. At least, that's what Markus's mind told him.
He made a grab for his agenda, having taken to writing his homework down for a change. It probably worked a lot easier when you could actually remember what your homework was. "Uhm, there's a test on Ancient Runes on Tuesday, which I haven't been studying for as I understand fuck all about the subject, and a Transfiguration essay due this Friday." It was Sunday now, probably a little too close to the ancient runes test to really make a difference, but he wasn't going to come up to the boy and tell him that he needed more tutoring. He had some pride left.
"So, I think we've got the hour filled with that, but if you need me to make you feel better, I'd be happy to forget all about my homework" He gave him a cute look, one that stated that he was definitely more interested in flirting with him than doing the actual work.

Ash didn't say a word in response to Markus' blatant flirting. His only reaction was a raised eyebrow. Finally he spoke, "I don't have time to play around today Markus." he stated in a firm, quiet voice.
"What will the test cover?" he asked when the Gryffindor informed him of an Ancient Runes test on Tuesday. Reaching down to his bag beside him, Ash pulled out his own Ancient Runes book.
He looked up as Markus spoke again. This time about a Transfiguration essay due Friday. "Alright, was is the essay on?" he asked, pulling out his Transfiguration book as well.
He glared slightly as Markus continued to flirt with him and ignore his work. "Markus, I am not in the mood today. Yes, you are attractive, but that does not mean that you can flirt with me just to get out of studying. I told you that I would make sure you passes your NEWTS and that is exactly what I plan on doing. These study sessions are just that. Study sessions. I am not doing this so you can flirt." He sighed and continued, "Yes, I flirted with you last time as well, but right now we need to focus on your work. Particularly your test coming up."
What he did not reveal was his slight jealousy. Jealousy that Markus was sleeping with other people so soon after their night in the Room of Requirement. He knew he was being silly. He had known Markus' repuation and what he was getting himself into. But still, he couldn't quite stop that green monster of jealousy from popping up. Wonderful. Just fucking wonderful

Ugh, what a buzzkill. Markus groaned, running fingers through his hair and settling himself more firmly in the chair. Geez, who had gone and wedged that stick back up the boys arse? He shrugged a shoulder when Ashton asked about the test and the paper, not caring quite so much as he had beforehand. Yeah, there was the slight thing of passing his NEWTs, but he'd rather do his work alone than spend the evening with someone who was intent on treating him like a student rather than an actual person.
"Yes, sir" Giving him a mock salute with the most serious face ever, he dug up his book and opened it. Two could play this game and he was good at it. If the boy wanted to feel he was indifferent towards him, he would be. He'd simply act the part of a student who cared for nothing more than the others intelligence. "Test is on chapter five." He'd read the chapter, twice even, but nothing stuck, which probably had more to do with the way he studied than the actual subject.
"I'll figure out the essay on my own. We've only got an hour and I doubt you'll be able to teach me both Ancient Runes and Transfiguration in those sixty minutes." There was nothing taunting in his voice, but his jaw was set tight, the brunette suddenly hating how he had to be here and plead for the other to help him.

That did it. That sulking and that smart- ass salute. As well as the 'sir'. Who the hell did Markus think he was? Ash didn't have to to do this. He didn't have to help Markus. He could just let him fail. He told the other boy just that. Leaning back in his chair, arms crossed, he glared at the older boy, sapphire eyes glinting with anger. "I don't have to do this you know." he snapped at the Gryffindor. "I could just let you fail. Hell, I could go straight to Headmaster DeLange right now and tell him that he might as well expel you seeing as education is wasted on you."
He really was not in the mood to deal with Markus and his academic issues today. Honestly, it was not that hard to ask the teacher for help. If the boy hadn't been so damn proud and had actually asked the teacher, he wouldn't be in this situation. So in Ash's point of view, it was Markus' own fault that he was stuck with a tutor. The boy needed to learn to fucking swallow his pride and ask for help once in a while. It wasn't like it would kill him. Although the teachers might croak from shock. Not that that was neccesarily a bad thing...
Merlin knew half the the teachers were incompetent fools anyway. Any little first year could make a simple Forgetfulness Potion. So why was the Potions teacher having 7th years do 1st year work? It just didn't make sense.

His eyebrows shot up as Ashton began yelling at him, telling him that education was wasted on the Gryffindor. Well, fine. If that's how he wanted to play it. "Fuck you, Laurent, if that's what you want to do then go ahead, see if I care!" He closed his book with a snap, stuffing it back inside his bag and getting to his feet angrily. Who did the other think that he was?! He didn't need his help! Hell, he didn't need this damn stupid SCHOOL. Everyone here was just intent on making him feel as stupid and incompetent as possible.
"You know, I'm here actually trying, which is hard for me to begin with, but you're too fucking stuck up to even see that. You just think that I'm here to make things even harder for you, cause you've got such a miserable life. Well boo-fucking-hoo." Markus was really pissed off, to the point where he seriously contemplated driving his fist straight into the other boys face, but hey, he had some dignity, and he didn't really want to get expelled. "Why don't I make this easier on the both of us and just get the hell away from you." With that said, he hoisted his bag onto his shoulder and left the classroom.

Ash sighed. Why had he done that? Let his temper run away from him again and spoke without thinking. He really needed to work on that. But should he stop the older boy? Well yeah, he supposed he should. After all, he had promised to help him.
"Markus, wait!" he called. He sighed again. "I'm sorry okay? I didn't mean to yell at you. Well ok, I did. But I shouldn't have done it." Of course the chances of the Gryffindor accepting his apology were slim-to-none. Not that Ash would blame him.
Hell, Ash wouldn't have accepted an apology from himself for that kind of behavior! Still, it didn't hurt to at least try to apologize did it? Who knew, maybe Markus would accept it. Oh who was he fooling? Markus was definitely too pissed at Ash to accept the younger boy's apology.
And again, Ash couldn't blame him. He'd had no right to yell at the Gryffindor like that. Not to mention a few of the things he'd said were downright mean. Such as the 'Headmaster DeLange might as well expel you.' and 'education is wasted on you'. He had known that Markus, despite all appearances did not want to fail, and was actually trying hard not to. But Ash had been so angry that he had blurted things out without thinking. Hurtful words. Words that he could never take back.
And not only had it made Markus angry and probably hurt him as well. But it could have also droven away a potential friend. And that was something Ash wasn't willing to let go of...

Markus scoffed, turning around while he was standing in the doorway. "Don't be such a liar. You meant every damn word." Of course, why wouldn't he? He was just a nuisance, after all. No one would take any enjoyment into teaching him something he should've learned ages ago, and he couldn't really blame the other for that. It was just, having heard that he was going to help him pass his NEWTs sort of made him depend on the other, and well, that had been a bloody stupid mistake, hadn't it?
"You just feel like you're so much better than me, but let me tell you something, you're not. You're a liar, making everyone believe you're such a good boy, but you're dying to get away from that image. Bet that's why you wanted to sleep with me, huh? Have a little action with a bad boy, make yourself feel alive." Of course, that's all the other could want. It was all people ever wanted from him, even the few he'd allowed himself to get close to.
When it came down to it, Markus knew very little about keeping people close. He'd never had a good example from his father, who had very little friends and cared for no on but the girl he'd sent away. So it wasn't really a surprise that the brunette was better at sleeping with people than maintaining a healthy friendship. Even the girls he did befriend were all exes of some sort, and there were a few he was still sleeping with nowadays. The fact that Ashton had managed to get past some of his walls scared the shit out of him, and it was partly why he was reacting so harshly. Because he'd expected this to happen and he had fooled himself into believing it wouldn't.
The Gryffindor took one harsh look at the younger boy and scoffed, before turning around again and leaving the room.
