**WHAT DO YOU LOOK LIKE**
Picture:
Looks:
Height:5”9
Weight:154 lbs [he has lost some weight after the accident]
Hair Colour:Blonde
Eye Colour:Brown
Appearance:
Ashley wears the regular school robes, though they are altered somewhat so the robes won’t catch in his wheelchair. His sleeves are somewhat shorter and the hem on his legs is a little higher up. Aside from that, there is nothing noticeably different, except for the necklace that he wears wherever he goes. It’s a simple locket on a chain, but it means the world to him, since it contains pictures of his parents.
Ash was in an accident a few days after his sixteenth birthday. Both parents died at the scene, and Ashley was left in a coma for four months. He has had extensive brain surgery, but most of the scars are hidden by his hair, except for a few down his leg and one through his eyebrow. He is in a wheelchair.
Favourite Outfit:
Ash dresses up in casual clothes. He likes to wear jeans, converses and a simple T-shirt. Most of the time he opts for something that is comfortable to wear in his chair. On occasion he will dress up, if someone helps him. Even then it's pretty basic: Black slacks and a button down shirt.
**PERSONALITY**
How do you treat your friends:
Before the accident, Ashley was always a happy, easy going guy. He accepted things the way they came, as he'd learned from his parents. He doesn't judge people easily, and is considered a sweet, but naive kid. He tends to give people a few more chances than they deserve, but at his old school, few ever took advantage of that. He hasn't learned to box up his heart, and will fall head over heels in love with what could be the wrong guy. He's a very fierce and loyal friend, and once you gain his trust (which is easy to do) he will try to stick by you til the end.
How do you treat your enemies:
Ashley doesn’t have a lot of enemies. If kids dislike him because he’s gay, he’ll likely brush it off and continue with his life. He knows that he’ll never be able to please the entire world and rather spends his time with those that do like to hang out with him. The only time he gets upset or defensive is when people make remarks about his wheelchair and imply that he is mentally deficient as well.
Social Status:
Ashley transferred to Hogwarts after summer, so he is completely new. He supposes that it makes him an outcast for now, but plans to make new friends and make the best of his new school.
Positive Traits:
* Stubborn: Ashley doesn't give up. It was that way with Quidditch, when he kept dropping off his broom the first few lessons, and it's the same with physical therapy these days. This also goes for people. If he sees something in someone, he won't give up on them.
* Naive: Ash isn't the type to wonder what people's hidden meanings are. He takes things at face value and believes in the good of people.
* Positive: He doesn't get depressed easily, and will always try to see the best in things. He believes that people never get more than they can handle. He does have problems with love these days, he doesn’t want people to settle for him because they feel sorry for what happened.
* Loyal to a fault: If you have his trust, it's very hard to lose it. He'll give you a second chance, and a third, and a fourth.
* Accepting: He generally accepts everyone the way they are. Gay, straight, depressed, anorexic, he just tries to be there for everyone and show them that there's someone who fits with whoever they are.
Negative Traits:
* Gives people too many chances: Sometimes he just doesn't believe that people can be bad, and hurt him because they like it. He tries to see the good in people, but it can end up with him getting hurt.
* Falls in love easily: If someone smiles at him right, he can already feel butterflies. He builds up a dream guy, and falls in love too quickly sometimes. He isn't the type to actively pursue his love though.
* Concentration problems: Ever since the accident, it's been tough to concentrate. He can't do the simplest of spells sometimes, and classes are very hard on him.
* Can have anger problems: He'll try and do everything on his own, even if he knows he can't. If someone tries to help him and he's not ready for it, he can get very upset.
* Very emotional: Ash wears his heart on his sleeve. He loves deeply, and can feel very deeply.
* Insecure: He didn’t used to be like this, but ever since the accident he feels somewhat inferior to others. He is worried about never getting as good at Magic as he knew he could be, and he’s afraid that people will be put off by his disability.

**SOME MORE INSIGHT**
Skills/Hobbies:
Ash used to be a fairly good Quidditch player. In his last game there were talent scouts watching him, and there has been a definite possibility of him getting an offer to join a professional team after he finished school. After the accident he doesn’t have any skills anymore. If anything, he feels like he’s constantly lagging behind. His main hobby is still Quidditch. Watching it, reading about it, thinking out team tactics. Even after the accident, he still feels like he somehow belongs in that world. He’s thought about writing books about Chaser tactics. Yes, the sport means everything to him.
Likes/Dislikes:
Likes:
* Quidditch – The feeling of being in the air, being weightless and free, and the added bonus of getting to play a sport with other wizards. Quidditch has always been his passion.
* Herbology – His father taught him quite a lot about plants and it has been a fond memory. He used to be fairly good at it in school and being in the greenhouses calms him down even now.
* Dogs – Ash grew up with dogs. From the day he was born until his eleventh year, he has had a golden retriever named Sketch. When she died, his parents bought him a Labrador that he named Star. Unfortunately his aunt is allergic to dogs and he had to say goodbye to Star after the accident.
* Movies – He loves diving head first into a story and forget about his troubles for a while. There is nothing better than enjoying a night with your friends watching or mocking a movie.
* A new start – Ash tries to look at things from a positive point of view. Rather than being miserable over all that has changed, he tries to see it as a second chance, a possible way of changing things that he didn’t like about his life.
Dislikes:
* His wheelchair – It’s difficult moving through crowds in a wheelchair, and it makes people stare. Sometimes they treat him like he’s mentally handicapped as well. All in all it’s enough to resent the damn thing.
* Losing his parents – Ashley was very close with both his parents and to do without their guidance for the rest of his life is something that he’s still coming to terms with. He often talks to them and finds a place to be alone for a while and just remember all the good memories.
* Anything to do with racing – His parents car got hit by a truck that was driving well past the limit. He doesn’t mind people endangering their own life, but when they risk other people getting hurt, he’ll definitely be pissed off.
* Physical therapy – It hurts and it makes him feel like he’ll never walk again. There is little to no progress and it’s just very frustrating.
* Pity – If people look at him with pity he feels the urge to point them at everything he still -can- do. The thought of people feeling sorry for him both angers him and makes him feel as if they think he’s defeated. He’s not. And he’ll damn well show them.
Best/Worst memory:
Best Memory: Coming out to his parents. He was nervous and scared, but they took it so well. He had the perfect coming out, both his parents claimed to love him and that it didn’t matter who he fell in love with as long as he ended up being happy.
Worst Memory: The night of the accident. Ashley remembers a crash, then darkness and pain. A throbbing in his head and the heat of the fire. He remembers opening his eyes to see his mother, covered in blood, whispering that she loves him. He remembers seeing them die in front of his eyes, unable to move, knowing that he was about to die himself.
Secrets:
It isn’t a real secret, but he is reluctant about sharing details of the car crash. When he tells people about it, he usually sticks to the story that has been in the paper – him being found more dead than alive, being rescued by bystanders, rushed to the hospital where he stayed in a coma for over four months. Nobody knows that he watched his parents die, not even his aunt.
**YOUR HOGWARTS CAREER**
What subjects are you taking this term:
* DADA – E [D]
* Potions – E
* Charms – O [T]
* Transfiguration – E
Favourite/Least Favourite Subject:
Herbology is an easy win. Ash is good at it, he has fond memories of talking about plants with his parents and the Professor at his old school. He just loves working with plants, loves reading up on new theories, and most of all it is a nice way to escape prying eyes.
There are a few subjects that have become very difficult for Ashley after the accident. DADA, Charms and Transfiguration require wand movements and spells that he no longer masters. He works very hard in these subjects, but constantly failing does have its consequences. He also has trouble concentrating, so History of Magic is another one of his weaker subjects.
What kind of student are you:
Ashley is a good student. He enjoys having a laugh, joking with friends, but he can be very focused and passionate about his work. After the accident he sometimes needs to be called to attention, and he struggles with his work, but he is definitely driven to make the best of the situation he’s in.
What is your preferred House:
Hufflepuff
**BEFORE AND AFTER**
How Did You Come To Be/Childhood:
Ashley grew up the son of a wizard and a muggle, who grew up together on the same street in a small town in America. Gary and Rose fell in love when they were teenagers, and nothing, not even magic, got in the way of their happiness. Though his parents were young when he was conceived they were very happy with the pregnancy. He got introduced to the world of magic from an early age on and always felt like he had gotten the best of both worlds. His parents were wonderful people, whose love for each other and their son was easy to spot.
Due to some complications at birth, Ashleys mother Rose was unable to give the young boy a sibling, but Ashley doesn't recall ever feeling like he missed out on something. He had a happy childhood, living with his parents and two dogs out on the country side in America. Ash enjoyed the freedom and loved playing sports or playing by the pond with his friends.
Coming To Hogwarts:
When he was eleven, Ash was sent off to an American school for witchcraft and wizardry. It was very much like Hogwarts, and he enjoyed the lessons and the students. He figured out he was gay, and his parents accepted it just as they had accepted all the other parts of his personality. They brought him up to respect all those people that respected him, and he has always lived by that.
A few days after his sixteenth birthday he went out to dinner with his parents. A truck ran a red light and crashed into their car, killing both Rose and Gary immediately. Ash was rushed to the hospital, where they had to perform complicated brain surgery to save his life. He spent four months in a coma. After waking up, he learned that he was now left in the care of his aunt.
Ashley has had a tough time accepting that magic couldn't save his parents and an even tougher time dealing with the fact that he has to learn things all over again. He can use his arms and simple basic magic to dress and clean himself, but has to rely on others to do the rest. The doctors tell him that he might never walk again, but it's too early to really be sure.
What do you want to do after Hogwarts:
Ash always wanted to play Quidditch, and he was on his way to becoming a damn good player too. However, now that he’s in a wheelchair he’s had to reconsider his possibilities. He figures that it won’t be too bad to become a Herbology teacher, though he’s secretly hoping that he can learn to walk and play again.

ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER –
Face Claim:

Role-playing Sample:
Ashley had just said goodbye to Ryan, having spent some time with the Slytherin to try and cheer him up – not that it seemed to be helping, then again, little did these days – and only parting ways because the older boy had insisted he needed to go back to his Commons and finish his homework. A load of crap, if you asked the Hufflepuff, but he wasn’t about to start an argument when he knew that his friend needed him now more than ever.
Turning a corner in his wheelchair, he saw that the very place he wanted to visit was blocked, by none other than Starke Diggory. He didn’t know much about the kid, other than that it was Ryans cousin and that his friend had been thoroughly worried when the Gryffindor disappeared. Normally he would say hi and enter the lavatory, but the boy was soaking wet, and there was water spreading around him, not just from the soaked clothes but also from the very room he had been about to enter.
Arching an eyebrow, Ashley gave the other boy a tentative smile, not knowing whether mentioning something was the right way to go. Then again, he could hardly ignore the fact that Starke was standing outside a bathroom, dripping wet, with his hands clinging to unzipped pants. It made for an interesting situation indeed. ”Something exploded in there?” It was a casual inquiry, this was a wizarding school after all. Lots of things tended to explode around Hogwarts.
