Even though Madeleine relishes in the heat of the sun, her fair skin rarely tans, a rather odd feature that she inherits from her mother's side of the family. Perhaps it was the fact that she would have been shunned out of the social circle and deemed an outcast because of being a tomboy and obviously abysmal at the core subjects which include Music, Painting etc.
A year before Madeleine came to Hogwarts, her father died, her mother worked too much and directed all of her attention to her little brother. At that time, Madeleine was a complete and utter wreck as her magic was completely uncontrolled. The memory of that period of her life terrifies her.

Even though Madeleine does hold a certain understanding for many subjects, she just cannot seem to find any respect for Herbology in her mind. She can be very narrow-minded when it comes to studying it and does not see the use in studying plants out of all the things that they could possibly be using their time studying.
Maddie is very fond of Transfiguration, mainly because it requires hard work and concentration, along with Defense Against the Dark Arts because it is focused on the one thing that she is really good at. Fighting. Madeleine also finds Potions to be a very enjoyable subject. Being French and all, she is very taken with cooking and thinks of Potions as a more refined art than most subjects.

How Did You Come To Be/Childhood:
Alaine Leclaire and Celeste Beaumont both attended Beauxbatons Academy of Magic and were fairly good friends at school. After graduation, they became much better friends and even did a little tour of France together. Eventually, they bonded over their interest in art and slowly fell in love. Celeste's pure blood family had not been to supportive of their friendship at school and they were outraged when they found out about their romantic relationship.
Celeste absolutely refused to have an arranged marriage and moved to Marseilles, France with Alaine, without a second thought. There they had a daughter whom they named Madeleine. Even though Alaine and Celeste were not short of money, they did not let their wealth get to their heads. The three lived in a fairly simple home in the bustling part of the city where Madeleine had few acquaintances and even fewer friends, a great source of annoyance to her parents.
Madeleine showed signs of magical ability early in her life around the age of 5. When she was 6, her mother began teaching her the basics of magic, mostly history and theory which Madeleine always found rather dull. Around the same time, her parents bought her an adorable Persian cat whom Maddie decided to name Onyx. She was really the only thing besides her parents that she truly cared about. Meanwhile, Madeleine received muggle education as her parents filled her in about the Wizarding World.
At the age of 9, her parents made a big decision. They decided that instead of Beauxbatons Academy of Magic, she was to be sent to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry so that she could have a different view on magic. Madeleine did not question her parent's decision and agreed. Around the same time, she began showing more prominent signs of wielding magical ability much to her and her parents' delight. Madeleine's 10th birthday loomed nearer and her mother announced that she was pregnant.
They moved to England where Alaine got a job at St. Mungo's and Celeste continued her career of being an Auror. A few months after the rather drastic change in surroundings, came a letter in a lime green envelope with shocking words written in silver ink. It said that while performing a spell on a patient, Alaine had died when it had backfired. Maddie never got to know the details but she couldn't be bothered to find out, seeing as her mother was in distress and the baby was about to be born.
A little too soon for Maddie, her brother was born and her life completely turned upside down. With Celeste working at the Ministry and directing all her attention at Elliot, Madeleine was shunned into a dark and spiteful world of her own. Under the stress and the anger reaching pressure point inside her, Madeleine's untrained magic spiraled totally out of her control and she unintentionally blew up a little thing, every now and then.
Coming To Hogwarts:
Fortunately, things improved when a week after her 11th birthday, her letter from Hogwarts arrived. This lifted her spirits very much and she prepared with much enthusiasm. While a part of her was still angry at her mother and jealous of her brother, she managed to distract herself with all the things that had to be taken care of for her journey to Hogwarts. Eventually her anger died down and she made up with her mother. Arriving at Hogwarts, Madeleine was terrified by the prospect of being among so many British children and she found herself longing to return to France. But it didn't turn out so bad and she eventually settled in quite well. Her English improved drastically and she no longer makes up messy sentences. But even after 3 years of staying in the castle, Maddie still cannot bring herself to enjoy the disgusting food that the British eat. She finds it to be horribly bland and is very picky about her eating choices.
What do you want to do after Hogwarts:
Madeleine is constantly doubtful of her future career and changes her mind every now and then. One year it might be a Ministry Employee, while the next she might want to be an Auror while the following year convinces her that she would be fine as a Healer.

The silence pressed on her from all directions, interrupted every now and then by distant footsteps or the wind which made the window frame rattle faintly or even the barely audible sounds of laughter coming from the Grounds.
